Don’t Let the Dust Settle

Georgetown Woman Dusting a ShelfMaking sure your Georgetown home is dust-free can be tricky. What makes it more difficult is when dusters move the dust around rather than trapping and removing it. These dusters are but a waste of time and money. Effective dusting can only be accomplished with the right tools. For a duster that’s a really good bang for your buck, look for one that does the job you want it to.

Feather Dusters

Even though it seems as though they’re meant for the grand mansions, feather dusters are actually for everyone. “Why?” you ask, because these dusters are super durable, and they are all-purpose! Still, you should always take your time to find the right one. If dust is what you want to get rid of, then look for dusters that make use of ostrich down feathers. Ostrich down feathers are thick and soft and successfully capture dust. Although they can be on the expensive side, feather dusters made of other types of feathers or synthetic materials won’t work. Alternatively, cheap feather dusters will flick dust all over the place, including your furniture.

Wool Dusters

Ever thought of wool? They make for really good dusters, and they are made out of natural material. Wool dusters attract and collect dust due to static and natural lanolin in the fibers. Known for its softness, wool is the prime choice for dusting delicate surfaces that scratch easily. Though they aren’t a staple in your local stores, wool dusters can easily be found and bought online.

Microfiber Dusters

Another duster you can look into is the microfiber duster. They’re effective and affordable. With the goal of removing dust, these dusters come in a variety of sizes and styles. Microfiber works so well because it is made of tiny filaments that rub together, creating static electricity. This static attracts dust, making dust removal quick and smooth. Microfiber is also washable and reusable, making it one of the most economically-friendly dusters around.

There are a diverse number of styles of microfiber dusters. There are those that are ordinary hand dusters, with an easy-grip handle that lets you direct the duster out of corners and across high shelves. Some are made with extendable handles to make it easier to reach the tops of door frames and photo frames. However, there is another duster that is built specifically for window blinds. Designed with three prongs, this microfiber duster slips between the slats and grabs dust on both sides with every swipe. Another excellent alternative is the dusting mitt. Think of an oven mitt, but tailored out of microfiber. It’s excellent for wiping down surfaces!

Disposable Dusters

Another choice pick for most people is the disposable dusting pad. These dusters are made from tiny polyester fibers and rely on static electricity to attract and remove dust. Regardless of brand, these dusters accomplish the same thing, and they all come in either dusting kits with a reusable handle or packs of refill pads. Numerous users prefer to use these dusters because they can easily throw the pad away once it’s visibly dirty.

Compressed Air

Finally, if you need to dust delicate electronic devices or small crevices, one of the best dusters you can use is compressed air. The compressed air comes in cans that you can spray onto the surface you’re trying to dust. Aside from this, you can keep at your disposal a number of other dusters, as well, for other purposes.
