One of the good things about first moving into a rental home is how clean everything is. A quality landlord will make sure that every room of the home— kitchen, bathrooms, etc.— has been thoroughly cleaned before move-in day. However, time and daily use mean that even bathrooms that are cleaned regularly will need a good deep cleaning. To keep your San Marcos rental home’s bathroom sanitary and in good order, you should complete some deep cleaning tasks. Do this every few months to ensure that your bathrooms are kept sparkling clean.
Maybe the areas that need deep cleaning the most are your tub, shower, and showerhead. Each one should be deep cleaned regularly to remove residue buildup and water spots. An easy method to clean any bathroom surface is by mixing a few drops of white vinegar with a cup of baking soda to make a paste. Spread the mixture over the tub or shower door and let it sit for an hour. This gives the solution some time for it to work. Then wipe and rinse it clean. For shower walls, try spraying them with an all-purpose cleaner, run the hot water, and wait for the shower to fill with steam. Close the shower door and let the cleaner sit for about twenty minutes, then wipe down with a wet sponge or cloth.
Vinegar works great on sinks and showerheads, too. To clean a sink with vinegar, just get a little amount and pour it into the sink, scrub, and flush it down with hot water. To clean a showerhead with white vinegar, fill a bag with it and then place the bag over the showerhead so that the entire fixture is soaking in the vinegar. Make sure you fasten it securely; you can use a rubber band or twist-tie. Then let sit overnight. The next morning, remove the bag and wipe the showerhead clean.
Another part of the bathroom that needs to be deep cleaned routinely is the toilet. There are many different toilet cleaners on the market, still, the best method for really deep cleaning a toilet is by using baking soda. Simply pour a cup of baking soda into the toilet bowl and let sit for about five minutes. Brush thoroughly with a toilet brush. After doing that, flush the toilet to rinse it.
If your rental home’s bathroom has tile, it’s crucial that you deep clean the grout to avoid bacterial growth. Apply bleach and use a grout brush for cleaning. They are the best tools for lightening discolored grout lines. They also work well to kill anything trying to grow between your tiles. To really keep grout watertight, it’s advised to reseal it every six months or so to keep moisture and bacteria out. Bleach can also be used to address any mold growing in windowsills or other areas. What you need to do is mix one part bleach to two parts water and scrub any mold spots with a sponge.
Deep cleaning a bathroom doesn’t need to take up a lot of time and effort, but you have to remember to do it on a regular basis. Now that you’re aware of how the pros deep clean a bathroom, you can stay on top of this important maintenance task a lot easier.
